Pacific Heights Residence – Gentleman’s Bedroom

A luxurious gentleman’s bedroom suite. The striking taxidermy specimen is from Paxton Gate. Roman shades in silk Manuel Canovas stripe and bedding by Matteo.
Bedroom suites should also provide points of interest. A magnificent bedside walnut credenza supports a mélange of fascinating objects. Ceramic tortoise shell lighting fixture from Jonathan Adler is echoed in the faux tortoise lacquered music box. Jeffersonian-style pewter vessels, an unusual neoclassic vase and an antique Mexican monstrance create a compelling collection.
An antique Chinese cabinet acts as a foil for a whimsical silver-plated lion and a trio of jewelry boxes fashioned in coconut shell, leather, and ebonized walnut.
An interesting slate-topped bedside table with gesso finish by Quatrine for Michael Taylor Collections compliments the upholstered headboard fabric from Old World Weavers and provides contrast to the custom-tinted Benjamin Moore wall color.

The wall treatment in the gentleman’s bedroom suite is a custom-tinted Benjamin Moore semi-gloss to match the Manuel Canovas fabric used for the window shades. The goal was to emulate the hue of dried tobacco. All woodwork was given an additional coat of marine varnish. Importantly, the paint was applied with a brush, not rolled on, resulting in a highly textural, complex, and deep saturated tone.
