Posh Cosmopolitan Parlor in Redding, CA

RavenThorn reimagined the standard square “4 walls and a door” living area in a new development home in Redding, CA into an immensely posh, cosmopolitan parlor.

The client insisted on a living space that would rival any tony, upper east side Manhattan apartment. With direct access to the pool and gardens via iron french doors, this space embraces the Mediterranean lifestyle with sumptuous surroundings that flow easily from inside to outside. The backdrop for this room is enveloping — a lacquered aubergine wall treatment, an important Murano chandelier acting as a focal point, and painted wood floors in a chevron pattern are soft on bare feet. Every furnishing, fabric, light fixture, and object in this space is unique, creating unending visual interest and enjoyment. Always bespoke and with a sense of place, RavenThorn specified an unusual, cantilevered, hand-carved bronze sofa end table named “Shasta” to reflect the owner’s view of Mount Shasta.
After sundown, this parlor becomes a magical jewel box, embodying RavenThorn’s restrained elegance. Impactful bronze sculptures and carefully chosen artwork offer enduring wonderment and curiosity. The eye-catching “Confusion” hide rug by Kyle Bunting juxtaposes effortlessly with the classic Brunschwig & Fils toile fabric on the contemporary wingback lounge chair. Total tranquility awaits.
